Assuming your show is one hour:
Select and upload your music
Pro Tip: Using a music library/tool (iTunes, Media Player, etc), pull songs together and put them in order so you can see how long they run, how much time you have for mic breaks, and where you want to insert mic breaks to announce what you've just played (etc.)
Make sure your music files are all mp3’s. WAV, ogg, and FLAC files are too big and will not play.
Using Libretime, [Upload] your tracks. (But FIRST - check to see if they already exist on LibreTime. Don't upload duplicates, man!)
You can easily see what you've just uploaded by clicking on the 'Tracks' menu item (in the leftmost column in LibreTime) and then clicking on the [Columns] option to add the 'Last Modified' column to the Tracks view. Click on the Last Modified column heading (twice) to order the tracks with the most recently uploaded showing first.
Create a Playlist
Click on the 'Playlists' menu item (in the leftmost column in LibreTime) and then click the [+New] button to start a new playlist.
Name your playlist and hit save (e.g., show name/number or date)
Click again on the 'Tracks' menu. Drag your tracks into the playlist (on the right) and then arrange into the desired order. Save using the [Save] button.
Record Mic Breaks (Talky bits)
Use a recording app (e.g., voice memo) to record your mic breaks. Tell the people what they're hearing, tell a joke, act like a DJ!
Pro Tip: leave a little silence at the end, because concatenating loses some time (beginning, too)
Save the mic breaks as mp3 files. Make sure to name them something you can identify later when you upload it onto the LibreTime server.
Change genre tags to “talk”. This is REALLY important. You can do this by editing file properties or by using a utility like kid3.
Upload the mp3s to Libretime
Put them in your playlist in the correct places between songs
Check how long your playlist is
Add a song or two (and/or sponsorship spot) at the end to fill the time
Don’t leave more than 5 seconds of silence at the end of the show
Add your Playlist to the Schedule
Go to the [Calendar] menu item and find your show's timeslot(s) - click on the show, then select Schedule Tracks from the popup menu.
Under playlists (option along the top of the screen), find the playlist you just created and drag it to right side of the Libretime screen (the Scheduled Shows tab)
Click [OK] to save.
Your calendar slot will no longer have a red [!] because it's got music in it now!
Tune in and listen to your show. Tell all your friends!
Caution: When you’re in the [Dashboard] menu item, be sure to not mess with the scheduled shows tab. That can affect what’s currently being played or mess up another DJ's show presets.
